Faith, Pilgrimage and Humanity Through a Papal Transition.

On April 21, 2025, with the passing of Pope Francis, the Church entered a period of sede vacante, a time suspended between mourning and anticipation. This is the world of In Between, a photographic series documenting the spiritual pilgrimage and profound emotional participation of the faithful in St. Peter's Square during this interregnum.

From the day of Franci’s passing until May 8, 2025, when the white smoke announced the election of the new Pope, Leo XIV, St. Peter's Square became the beating heart of humanity on hold and in prayer. The series captures not only the faces, clasped hands, and gazes turned toward the sky conveying an unshakeable faith but also a variety of different human reactions to such a big historical event from those who experienced this momentous transition firsthand.
